BUG  when playing Solitare  in Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
Ive been playing Solitare and found a bug. What ever is being used for Random generation seems to have an error. At first I was not sure (I opened a post somewhere else), but now I AM POSITIVE. Especially when you get the same game two times in a row. This has happened more than once. I am relatively sure I have see the same thing in Spyder solitare as well. Most of the time, I completely unload the game and start over. So that may be a clue. Normally, the repeat does not happen immediately, but it has repeated immediateldy more than twice.

Please try the following: 1. Click Start 2. Click Control Panel 3. Click Uninstall a program located under the “Programs” category 4. From the selections listed on the left-hand side of the window click Turn Windows features on or off (provided administrative credentials if prompted) 5. Click the “+ ” next to Games to drop down the menu, then uncheck and check again Spider Solitaire (This will re-install it) I recommand to you to uncheck then leave the interface and after you do the same previous steps to check it again. Try this and check if the problem is the same or not. Best regards.

I get the same thing with Windows 7, never had it with XP Surprising that MS hasn't fixed it yet

I am not so certain it is a "bug". Perhaps the "random" generator is only selcting from a preprogrammed , but small, number of games?? If so, it is certainly time it was improved.David Clarke

I have a similar issue that just started this week. Each time I start a session of Solitare the so called 'random' generator starts at the same place. Example: new session: deck 1, deck 2, deck 3, etc. next new session: deck 1, deck 2, deck 3, etc. next new session: deck 1, deck 2, deck 3, etc. Also found that 'restart this game' sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I never had these issues with XP.

At least I know it isn't just me. I believe that there are a few set games programmed in the initial start of the game. Like you said "Most of the time, I completely unload the game and start over". I have documented the games and I can ussually find 4 or 5 games that repeat exactly two or more times. I think that is how the programmers wrote the game. It is too consistant. Uninstalling the game only changes the games that repeat.

I have windows 7 32 bit OS and have noticed the same problem. Over the last 100 games of solitaire I have had 35 unique games the rest have been repeats, Why doesn't Microsoft amend the program with a better random generator? Surely it is not beyond their expertise

Hi... Well the problem still exists. I had marked it as answered, but obviously, it isn't and it is thankfully not just me that has experienced this. Even if there is an issue with the random generator, one would think that there would be enough different games generated so that an individual would not notice. NOT SO. How many other things does this affect? So, please, put in an update to solitaire. Guess its not any long an issue as they are not currently included on the Windows 8 RC.
